Mission
The mission of the New York Company is to support the Jamestowne Society in carrying out its educational, historical and patriotic purposes. To that end, we are.committed to honoring the memory of our ancestors who were the early settlers in Virginia and their financial supporters and to assisting in the preservation of historical documents, artifacts and building structures from the 17th century in Virginia.
vision
We seek to build the New York Company of The Jamestowne Society by establishing it as representative of the descendants of the settlers of the Jamestowne Colony and securing the active participation of our members in developing programs of interest and relevance to Jamestown or the Colonial era. By doing so, we expect to attract the interest of prospective members so that we can substantially increase the membership of both the New York Company and the Jamestowne Society as a whole. We plan to reach this vision through a combination of programming that will be on topic and relevant to Jamestown and the Colonial era, effective use of both print and electronic media to enhance our visibility and an active recruitment effort.
Photos
Since the Spring of 2020, the New York Company has had numerous meetings by videoconference. In those meetings, we have had book discussions and lectures by authors of books that include coverage of the Colonial Period in Virginia. In October, we had a luncheon meeting at the Old ‘76 Tavern in Tappan, New York followed by a tour of the DeWint House. In November, we participated with other lineage societies in the Centennial Flag Service for Remembrance Day at Saint Thomas Church in Manhattan. More recently, we had a meeting and tour of Boscobel.
